YOU’VE NEVER READ A LOVE STORY AS TWISTED AS THIS. Juliette loves Nate. She will follow him anywhere. She’s even become a flight attendant for his airline so she can keep a closer eye on him. They are meant to be. The fact that Nate broke up with her six months ago means nothing. Because Juliette has a plan to win him back. She is the perfect girlfriend. And she’ll make sure no one stops…

Do you have one of those friends that obsess about the boyfriend that kicked her to the curb? She talks nonstop about how he needs her, and they belong together, and she will do whatever it takes to get him back? Well, when you meet Juliette, you will thank your lucky stars, your girlfriend is all talk and no action.

The Perfect Girlfriend introduces us to Juliette, a young woman that is the devoted girlfriend of Nate, the pilot. All is well until Nate and Juliette call it quits. As one party begins to move on with their lives, the other party moves on to plot revenge. When Nate isn’t home, Juliette cleans his place, stocks his fridge with all of his favorite things. How does Juliette know when he isn’t home? She places a spying app on his phone. When she deems this to be insufficient in keeping tabs on lover boy, she decided to indulge her thirst for travel and becomes a flight attendant with the same airline Nate works for! There are a lot of OMG moments in the Perfect Girlfriend. So many that I don’t want to spell them all out and hand you spoilers on a platter. There are times when you can relate and feel sympathy and compassion for our protagonist, and then there are times you are wondering what the hell she was going to do next. The plot is reminiscent of a Friday night Lifetime movie. Although the things that Juliette does are crazy, they are realistic in some ways. There is some background that is covered to explain why Juliette is the way she is. I believe the intention is for us to see how Juliette’s past situations have influenced her decisions today. Do we feel sorry for her? Is it ok to use events from your past to justify your present actions?

For a debut novel, Karen Hamilton did a great job. Makes you wonder if she was able to write this based on personal experience, or she has a twisted imagination?? The ending wasn’t what I expected. I feel like a book like this needs to end with a neat bow. It fell short for me, but the book was still a joy to read.

Thank you Netgalley and Wildfire Books for this ARC in exchange for my honest review
